Monday Morning Lagniappe

1. Here’s a link to some of the most famous and, perhaps, emotional photos. The old saying, “A picture’s worth a thousand words…” is never more true than in these photos. Photo #36 inside the link is from a Daily News Journal photographer here in Murfreesboro.

2. R.A. Dickey, the Nashville-born baseball pitcher who pitched for the University of Tennessee, and who recently released Wherever I Wind Up, a book about his life, pitched a complete-game no-hitter this past Saturday.

3. Speaking of no-hitters, Dickey’s teammate, Johan Santana threw a no-hitter the night before. Or, was it?

4. The MLB 2012 Draft starts tonight. Here’s a projection of the players going in the 1st round. Two things to note from the 31 projections: 1) only one player is under 6’0 and, 2) 17 of the 31 players are from high school.

5. What is that hangey-downey thing in the back of your throat for?
